Liquid News - Lis becomes CIPR President 2008

Elisabeth Lewis-Jones, director of Midland’s based consultancy Liquid Public Relations, will take up the Chartered Institute of Public Relations presidency on 1 January 2008.

Elisabeth, the 8th woman President of the CIPR, takes over from Lionel Zetter, CIPR President for 2007.

Elisabeth, who has nearly 15 years’ experience working both inhouse and in consultancy, is a former CIPR Young Communicator of the Year and chair of the CIPR in the Midlands. Today she is director and co-founder of Liquid Public Relations.

Elisabeth Lewis-Jones said: “With the Institute hosting the World Public Relations Conference and Festival in June and celebrating its 60th Anniversary, 2008 will be a significant year.

“‘The public benefit of public relations’, is not only the focus of the World PR Conference but a theme for the CIPR next year, as we continue to build on our achievements and gain greater recognition for public relations’ contribution to business and society.

CIPR Director General Colin Farrington said: “We are delighted Elisabeth will be our President for 2008. She is a loyal supporter of the Institute, having served as chair of the vibrant CIPR Midlands group, where she helped to bring the then IPR Diploma to the region, and on the CIPR Board and Council. Elisabeth is also past chair of the CIPR Business Services and Revenue committee, which has responsibility for steering the Institute’s successful income generating activities, and was CIPR Treasurer in 2005 and 2006.

“Her contribution to the Institute and PR profession regionally and nationally meant that her candidacy for the Institute’s top position was a natural next step, and one that has won unanimous endorsement from her peers.”
